Beautiful and highly desirable dark blue sponging color. It is from the late 1800's or early1900's.9-1/8" high from base to top rim x 6" dia. At the base and is a very heavy piece. NOTE: Photos were taken indoors.
No significant chips, no cracks, no hairline cracks and no repairs. Minor roughness on the top inside rim and a minor glaze rub approx. 1/8 on right outside edge of spout. There are two small glaze flakes on the bottom where the end of the glaze meets the unglazed rim.
That is it - these details are not noticeable when on display. It would be difficult to find another example in this condition and the dark blue coloring. I have not cleaned this piece - will let that to the new owner. It has the usual manufacturing characteristics found on OLD salt glaze stoneware i. Pits, pops, glaze skips, rubs, runs, bubbles, glaze separations, staining, crazing, and wrinkles & lines in glaze.PLEASE VIEW PICTURES CLOSELY FOR DETAILS & CONDITION AS THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. Guaranteed OLD & AUTHENTIC and NOT A REPRODUCTION. It will look really nice on display with the rest of your rare spongeware collection.
