Description : An antique Civil War Era Stoneware Beer, Cider or Ale Bottle with cobalt decoration, 1-Quart capacity, Boston, Massachusetts, c. Wheel-thrown cylindrical form with tapered shoulder and Blob Top finish. Dip-decorated from the entire shoulder and up with bold, vibrant Cobalt. Crisply-impressed at the lower shoulder: FAIRBANKS & BEAR. Note : The D in BEARD is not visible (see close-ups).

Condition : Very Good++ with strong color and highly sought-after Boston makers. There is a shallow chip on the left side that has been filled and colored (see close-up, photo #7). Body with some minor soiling/discoloration; it has not been cleaned. Highly appropriate for any 19thC Beer, Bottle or Stoneware collection.
