This listing is for an Old Vintage Mid 19th Century American Salt Glaze Stoneware Pottery Large 13 7/8 Tall 2 Gallon Ovoid Shaped Jug. It was made by William Moyer of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It is maeked near top with "MOYER HARRISBURG" with a "2" above (photo 3). It has a Tan / Gray body with Cobalt Blue Floral Decoration of 2 Tulip Flowers. I believe it dates to the 1850s.It is in good "As Is" antique condition overall. There is a larger but shallow chip on the side along with a bunch of odd crescent shaped bruises (photos 9 and 10). These crescents are on the surface and seem to be done in the making / firing.
Also some chips to the other side and a small chip in middle of the flower (photos 11 and 12). The top rim and base edge look great. The handle is securely attached with no damage.(Bright white spots are glare / lighting from photos, not damage or actually on the item). Please view the photos carefully as they are my main description.
It is very big, thick, and heavy weighing over 8 lbs before packing and will be securely packaged and double boxed. UPS is usually the cheapest for big and heavy packages. It measures 13 7/8" tall, 8 7/8" at widest part of body, about 2 1/2" across top rim with a 1 7/16" opening, and 6 1/2 at the base.
