A brown, slip-glazed dasher lid is present and included, but likely a later marriage. Tan, Salt-Glazed exterior; Albany Slip interior.
Impressed on the upper shoulder with a cobalt-washed stamp that reads: BURGER & LANG /. See Bill Ketchums American Stoneware, p. 74 or Internet for further information on the Monroe County family-run manufactory. Front features an elaborate fern-like Floral Fern decoration surrounding a freehand 2, artistically executed in bold, Slip-Trailed Cobalt.
Condition: Minor rim, handle and base wear, including a few small chips, as shown; otherwise in Very Good, as-made condition with strong color and exceptional decoration. Some surface staining from use, predominantly on the reverse side. There is a faint, surface-only hairline noted below the left handle. Inherent glaze, surface and firing imperfections noted for descriptive accuracy.
