Wheel-thrown, cylindrical form with eased shoulder, tooled rim with integrated inner ledge for a lid, and applied lug handles. Shiny, Salt-Glazed exterior; Albany Slip interior.
Impressed on the upper shoulder, simply: ITHACA, N. Front features a Floral in Slip-Trailed Cobalt. Condition : Very Good overall with tremendous Folk Art appeal. Upper rim with moderate wear from use, including small chips and larger shallow flake, rear left. Inner ledge with wear and rubs, where a lid would rest.
Small glaze flake on right handle. Base with expected wear and soiling, protective felt pads have been added at some point. Desirable Finger Lakes/Tomkins County mark. 2-Gallon capacity; measures 11-1/4H x 8-1/4W overall. The inner and outer rim diameters are 6-1/4 and 7-1/4, respectively.
