Description : An early Ginger, Root Beer or Ale Bottle with impressed merchant advertising, 1-Quart capacity, Northeastern US origin, dated 1854. Wheel-thrown cylindrical form with tapered shoulder, tapered mouth and cork finish.
Shiny, Salt-Glazed exterior with areas of attractive orange peel; Albany or Mineral Slip interior. Impressed with a cobalt-washed stamp on the shoulder: JOSEPH ROSE. Just below, lightly impressed 1854.
Typical wear on the upper rim small chips noted on the lower spout edge, and a faint vertical hairline on the right side (see close-up, photo #3).
