This is a wonderful 3 Gallon Semi-Ovoid Jug made and stamped by C. Hart & Son, Sherburne, N. This is the stamp of Charles Hart and his son, Nahum, who ran the Hart family pottery in Sherburne from 1866 to 1885 see William Ketchum, Jr. This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash and a Large and Bright, Brushed Cobalt Plow Flower with Fancy Leaves and a Blossom with 8 Petals. The jug is very clean and the cobalt superior.Some spots on the jug. For something over 150 years old its in great condition overall.
No chips, cracks or breaks. Just some minor marks on the jug itself. Only the top potion of cork is still in the jug.
This jug weighs nearly 9 pounds. I can find no chips or breaks in the stoneware.
