Description : An antique Preserve, Storage or Fruit Jar with primitive Cobalt decorations, 2-Quart capacity, Mid-Atlantic US origin, possibly James River Valley, Virginia, c. Wheel-thrown, cylindrical form with eased shoulder and distinctive rim with banded collar. Decorated on the body with (3) Tulips in bold, Brushed Cobalt. Salt-Glazed exterior; Mineral Slip interior.Condition : There are small chips/flakes on the base perimeter and some wear on the rim; otherwise in Very Good, essentially as-made condition. The rim is circular but out of level, as shown. Some discoloration noted on the body. Moderate mineral/salt staining on the interior. Inherent glaze, surface and firing imperfections noted for complete descriptive accuracy. No cracks, repaired damage, restorations or other excuses. See photos for complete details and close-ups. Please consider them as part of the description. Approximate Half-Gallon (2-Quart) capacity; measures 8-1/4H x 5-1/4W overall with a rim diameter of 4-1/2.
