Description : A fine Stoneware Pitcher with primitive Cobalt Floral Decoration, approximate 2-Gallon capacity, Northeastern US, origin, ca. Wheel-thrown, bulbous form with tooled shoulder, pinched spout, pronounced footed base and applied strap handle.Front features a large Floral decoration, artistically executed in bold, Slip-Trailed Cobalt. Additional brushed cobalt accents highlight both handle terminals. Shiny, Salt-Glazed exterior; Albany Slip interior. Condition : Small flake on the inner rim, and a contact mark on the left shoulder, as shown; otherwise in Excellent, essentially as-made condition. An attractive and very desirable form in 19thC.
