For sale is a very interesting stoneware piece from Poughkeepsie NY. The size is rare for a J B Claire and co jug. It is a 3 gallon and is decorated with cobalt #3 at the top of the jug. For starters the piece is in excellent as made condition. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs.

The decoration is very interesting. It has brilliant cobalt blue flowers but also looks to have a pair of starred flags under the flowers! There as kiln blemishes as shown and some thick salt drips! The piece was too close to another while in the kiln and the contact blemishes resulted, a testament to the pieces history. As in most Caire pieces, the name of the town is misspelled, POKEEPSIE.
