Beside the top hole in the spout, there is a small hole just above the top of the handle designed to allow airflow making pouring liquid out easier.

Put your thumb over the handle hole it will create a vacuum inside the jug so it will slow/stop the pouring of contents out of the main spout. Height: 14-3/4 Diameter across widest part of top spout: 1.5 Diameter across top spout opening (top hole): 11/16 Diameter across thumb spout opening (thumb hole): 5/8 Diameter at base: 8-5/8 Weight: 8lbs 7.6oz. Jugs are extremely rare to find in any condition. Ach one had some kind of imperfection or defect like from cracks in the jug/handle/spout, broken handles and/or chips in the top spout.

This is the ONLY jug that has been available for public sale in the past several years in absolutely perfect condition. The Hicks Rubber Company was founded in Waco, Texas in the early 1920s and incorporated on January 9, 1925 as rubber tire sales and service and later a metal salvage company. During the 1930s, the Hicks family also started the manufacturing travel trailers and started The Hicks Travel Trailer Company in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Hicks Rubber out of Waco provided the tires for Hicks trailers. The Hicks Rubber Company officially ended all business on May 31, 2000. Yes, there are manufacturing defects in the glaze of this jug like glaze pin holes and missed spots of glaze as well as some glaze drips, but these imperfections were incurred during the manufacturing process and do not detract from the value of the piece like chips, cracks and breaks do.

There are NO scratches, cracks, scrapes (other than normal shelf wear), repairs or chips anywhere. This is truly a one of a kind of treasure that is approaching 100 years old.
