This one-gallon cobalt decorated stoneware jug was made at the Hart Brothers pottery in Fulton, NY, circa 1860. It has a beautifully balanced ovoid form with tooled shoulder and narrow spout. The jug is decorated with cobalt leaf-like brushwork flanking the number 1.The jug is 10 ht. There are a few chips on the mouth and hair-line size shrinkage cracks on the rear with some staining near the base. This beautiful stoneware jug is in exceptional condition for its age and would be a great addition to a collection or for use as a stand-alone piece. I describe every item as well as I can but remember that the photos are part of the description.
