Heres a terrific and seldom seen Indian and Deer butter produced by Brush-McCoy Pottery Ohio, in the early 1900's, With a height of 6 inches and width of 6-1/4 inches, this butter is the largest of two sizes, it has exceptionally sharp details and is close to a first mold piece. With high respect to Indian culture, there are Indian Good Luck symbols around the edge of the lid as well as on the finial. There are nips and small chips on the butters edge as well as a tight line.

The lids edge has a few nips, no chips or lines. The blue shading was carefully and judiciously applied by a skilled potter. This really is a lovely piece and could easily be a crown jewel in any collection of Blue & White Stoneware.

Indian and Deer Butter is illustrated on page 118 of the 1996 (2001) Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. Terry Taylor and Terry & Kay Lowrance. If damaged in transit it is buyers responsibility to contact the carrier.
