MID to LATE 19TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ANTIQUE N. WHITE & SON, UTICA, NEW YORK, THREE GALLON COBALT BLUE SLIP FLORAL DECORATED, STAMPED with MAKER'S MARK, PUTTY WHITE with B U R N T S I E N N A SPECKLES, WHEEL-THROWN & HAND DECORATED STONEWARE CERAMIC CROCK, with SLAB-CONSTRUCTED SIDE LIFTING/CARRYING HANDLES There's a slight, perhaps 2" to 3" stress fracture coming up from the bottom baseplate, traveling into the lower sidewall of the crick, where it abruptly stops.

This was caused from a previous concussion to the crock's baseplate. The crock is still structurally sound. Mid to late 19th century Ame ri can antique blue slip decorated stoneware ceramic jugs & crocks.

11" Height x 10 ¾" Width x 12 ¼ Width (including handles). 11 ½" outer rim Width x 10" inner rim Width. This very nice , quite well-preserved antique Ame ri can stoneware crock is in good to very good overall antique condition, with no noticeable edge flea-bites to the crock's top rim or to its lower margins. For a three gallon, large, mid to late 19th century antique New York State primitive stoneware crock, made some 135 to 155 years ago, this would be considered to be somewhat incredible, since they are usually beaten up to a greater or lessor extent. There's however a slight, perhaps 2" to 3" stress or concussion fracture coming up from the bottom baseplate, traveling into the lower sidewall of the crock, where it abruptly stops.

The crock remains structurally sound. The front sidewall is stamped'N. White & Son, Utica, New York. There's also a slight embossed, V-groove, horizontal line circumnavigating the crock, going from handle to handle, giving the user more grip on its sides.

The diagonal cobalt blue slip front floral sidewall motif is gestural and very expressive. Great size, great color and relatively great condition. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. This item is in the category "Antiques\Primitives".
